Osteochondral Defects the Talus: Concepts For Diagnosis and Management
Main Article Content
Abstract
Talar osteochondral lesions (OLTs) are among the most challenging pathologic entities to cure. A solid strategy is needed for them. In order to get a good outcome from a lesion, it's important to consider its size, location, chronicity, and other features including displacement and subchondral cysts. Patients whose OLTs have migrated or who have not shown improvement after three to six months of nonoperative treatment are the ones who are typically considered for surgical intervention. The three main categories of surgical procedures for treating cartilage damage are regeneration, replacement, and repair. In order to reduce the morbidity caused by OLTs, further study is required to determine which of the numerous viable treatment approaches is better.
